"One Piece" manga creator Eiichiro Oda may not be able to write a sequel to his popular series.
In an interview with late night show "Gold Rush," via the One Piece Podcast, "One Piece" editor Suguru Sugita revealed that Oda may not be able to write another long story after his renowned manga series.
"He hasn't decided, but he said he probably wouldn't be able to write one," he said when asked whether Eiichiro Oda has decided to write another long story.
"He's already been going on for eighteen years, so just how old will he be by the time it's all over? I think it's more of a question as to whether he'd be able to write another long serialization after that, realistically speaking."
Seeing the massive success of the "One Piece" manga and anime series, fans would have accepted a sequel with open arms. However, it seems that there won't be a second story for the Straw Hat Pirates.
It was previously reported that the "One Piece" manga series may end in 2020. It could also involve the "Greatest War" between Yonko Captain Kaido of the Beast and Luffy.
Sugita also admitted that the ending for the series is imminent. "He told me that the first part of the story, the part prior to the time-skip, was around halfway through," he said.
"That was about 60 volumes, so maybe we're at 70%? I don't think it's at 80% yet. Something like that."
IGN reported that "One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3" stayed true to the "One Piece" manga story albeit an "extremely abridged" one. The game was able to fit in important story arcs in the story as well as the original ending.
"One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3" allows players to take on Luffy's role as he fights his opponents and helps his friends. It even has a feature that lets the player destroy 100 enemies with one blow and teammate combo attacks.
