Months after the cancellation of "Silent Hills," it seemed impossible for the fans of the franchise to see heavyweights Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro in another spine-tingling project. The minds behind "P.T." affirm that this isn't the last at all.
While fans of the survival horror game "Silent Hills" seemed to be moving on from the big heartbreak after the cancellation announcement, both master game-creator Hideo Kojima and acclaimed horror film director Guillermo del Toro revealed that there is indeed life after "Silent Hills."
A report by IGN revealed Guillermo del Toro confirming that there's another project following "Silent Hills." "I love working with Kojima-san," shared del Toro. "We are still in touch. We are still friends and working into doing something together, but that's not going to be ['Silent Hills']."
While the details of the next Guillermo del Toro-Hideo Kojima project remains to be revealed, the "Crimson Peak" shared how far they have come to bringing the Norman Reedus-led "Silent Hills" to reality.
"We were in the planning stages, and it's a shame it's not going to happen," explained del Toro in the same interview.
"We were talking about really pushing the boundaries of the new consoles, and making the game really mess with your head. One of the great moments in 'Metal Gear' [Solid] was Psycho Mantis. The idea that a game can actually interact with you, and stuff like that."
Initially titled "P.T." in an attempt to conceal the game's true identity from gamers, "Silent Hills" had already released its demo with fans almost immediately recognizing the format and beating both Guillermo del Toro and Hideo Kojima to the punch. Mashable reported that the game was initially set for release, but after issues between Konami and Hideo Kojima arose, "Silent Hills" was finally cancelled to fans' discontent.
What the next project of Guillermo del Toro and Hideo Kojima is remains to be seen. However, with the two committed to collaboration, does this mean "The Walking Dead" star Norman Reedus will join the team again as he did in the "Silent Hills" demo?
