Epsom salt has been gaining public interest recently. This ancient health compound has been used for centuries because of its potency in relieving and treating certain illnesses.  This is not exactly salt but a naturally occurring pure mineral compound.

Chemically known as magnesium sulfate, this was named after a spring in Surrey England where it was discovered in the water. This compound can actually treat a lot of conditions and is a must-have remedy for every household, reports Natural Living Ideas.

Unlike other salts, Epsom salt has beneficial properties that can soothe the body, mind and soul. Its health benefits include relaxation, soothing of the body, curing skin problems and muscle pains.  Here are three health benefits of Epsom salt:

Stress drains the body of magnesium and it increases adrenaline levels. Epsom salt can be absorbed in the body when placed in a warm bath. Thus, magnesium replenishes the body of the needed amount for optimal functioning.
