The Russian President, Vladimir Putin, was rumored to be suffering from an aggressive and fatal type of cancer. Reports swirled that he is suffering from pancreatic cancer. However, his representative and spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, irately told the press and media to stop circulating false news.
The first news about Putin's health condition made its rounds last October. However, Kremlin Representatives continuously deny these claims. In fact, Putin recently delivered a keynote speech in Sochi. In his speech, he criticized the United States foreign policy. He reiterated that they are not threatened by Washington and even said that US is responsible for the various wars and conflicts in the Middle East.
The rumor started to spread after an article was published in the New York Post by Richard Johnson. In the article, the 62-year old Russian President's health condition was leaked by sources close to the President. An unnamed German doctor revealed that the President has tried various treatments for cancer including steroid shots. He also revealed that the Putin is undergoing treatment for terminal stage of cancer.
However, despite the various rumors about his health, he maintains his busy schedule. As a matter of fact, he attended the APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) Summit in Beijing, China last November 11, 2014. Putin and President Barack Obama had a short encounter in the summit and National Security Council Spokeswoman Bernadette Meehan confirmed that the two leaders talked about issues about Iran, Syria and Ukraine.
Moreover, similar news about Putin's health condition circulated way back in 2012. Rumors has spread that the President is suffering from terminal stage spine cancer. However, they denied the assumptions and reiterated that it is just a minor sports injury.
Pancreatic cancer is a fatal form of cancer. It has poor prognosis even if it is diagnosed early. Statistics show that it only has 6% survival rate.
