With only a few weeks before its release date, Tom Hiddleston delves deeper into explaining his newest character on the horror/gothic romance film by legendary storyteller, Guillermo del Toro. The "Crimson Peak" star talks "complex psychology" of Sir Thomas Sharpe.
Latest news have revealed that weeks before the release date of the highly anticipated horror film, "Crimson Peak" arrives, the star of the film, Tom Hiddleston, talked about details of his mysterious character, Sir Thomas Sharpe. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Tom Hiddleston revealed the thesis behind the "Crimson Peak" character, and while fans have been waiting to see the British actor paired up on the big screen, his character won't simply be a lover as "Crimson Peak" arrives.
"Guillermo and I were always trying to find the subtlety and the precision of that very complex psychology," shared Tom Hiddleston. "He's very trapped, struggling to free himself from the bonds of the past."
The "Crimson Peak" star added, "We talked about Rochester in 'Jane Eyre,' we talked about Bluebeard, and this idea of the Byronic hero. There were archetypes we needed to present, to create expectations which we could subvert and confound."
According to the report, "Crimson Peak" director Guillermo del Toro searched for a lead male actor who could present the audiences with that guilty feeling, something that he found in Tom Hiddleston. "I wanted a guy who would have humanity, and would understand that the crux of the love story is not to expiate any guilt," shared the "Crimson Peak" director. "I wanted him to be guilty of all charges, but wanted us to share his journey of developing a soul and a conscience."
The gothic horror romance film "Crimson Peak" is a story of life's complexity involving Edith Cushing portrayed by Mia Wasikowska, Sir Thomas Sharpe (Tom Hiddleston) and Lady Lucille Sharpe portrayed by Jessica Chastain. Charlie Hunnam is also part of the "Crimson Peak" cast as Dr. Alan McMichael, who falls in love with the heroine.
Tom Hiddleston and the entire cast of "Crimson Peak" arrive on Oct. 16, and even with a few weeks away, Forbes has already presented the film as the biggest horror film of the year. It will be weeks before fans could decide for themselves.
