Abrupt cancellation of "Rookie Blue" season 7 is a result of the story's 'natural conclusion' according to showrunners. Really?

Latest updates have revealed that another long-running series has been cancelled. The latest being ABC's "Rookie Blue" that will no longer return for season 7. A report by TheWrap revealed that while the ratings of "Rookie Blue" remain fair, the finale has already proven enough for the characters of the rookie police officers.

Christine Shipton, senior VP of Shaw Media revealed, "The success of 'Rookie Blue' is a testament not only to the extremely talented team of Ilana Frank, Tassie Cameron, David Wellington and studio Entertainment One (eOne), but the electrifying cast that has resonated with legions of fans that have followed the show since Season One,"

"After six seasons the series reached a natural conclusion and this season's finale was the perfect wrap up for both our rookies and for fans, especially with the marriage of our favourite couple, Sam and Andy," she added.

Upon "Rookie Blue" season 7 cancellation, Ilana C. Frank released the statement as reported by TVSeriesFinale and said, "On behalf of the whole Rookie Blue family, thank you to all the fans for your dedication over the last six years."

"After six fun and dramatic seasons, our story has come to its natural close," Frank continued,  "alongside you all, it has been our privilege to watch [Missy Peregrym's character,] Andy McNally develop from a young rookie to a distinguished officer."

"On behalf of eOne and ICF Films, I want to recognize the talented Missy Peregrym, Ben Bass, Greg Smith and the entire ensemble cast and crew who worked passionately and tirelessly to bring the characters and stories to life," added Frank. "Thank you to our broadcast partners Shaw Media and ABC for all of your support. As we say goodbye to 15 Division, the ICF Films team is already underway on our next project with eOne and Shaw Media and we are looking forward to sharing more exciting news in the near future."

Farewell, "Rookie Blue." The cancelled season 7 would've been great, but thank you.
