The World Health Organization (WHO) has detailed its continued success in global tobacco control, providing a country profile for each nation in the latest WHO Report on the Global Tobacco Epidemic.  The WHO believes that this growing progress mirrors the ongoing success of the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (WHO FCTC). It also shows the political will for tobacco control both nationally and globally.

The United States Country Profile's socioeconomic context includes a population of 315,791 individuals. The WHO report includes the following indicators of tobacco control progress, and the latest recorded status in the United States as of 2012.
