Is "Back to the Future 4" really happening? Legendary actor Christopher Lloyd talks possibilities, including cast members and a release date too?

Soon after Christopher Lloyd and Michael J. Fox reunited to celebrate Oct. 21, 2015, the rumors about the fourth installment of the classic franchise "Back to the Future" has been circling. At first, fans dismissed the idea noting that the actor behind Marty McFly is simply irreplaceable and obviously, the characters will have aged if "Back to the Future 4" does progress - and it totally defeats the purpose of the entire universal plot of the cult classic.

The rumors began when Christopher Lloyd teased audiences about the possibilities of "Back to the Future 4" and in a matter of seconds, news about casting and release date spread like wildfire.

Talking to THR, Lloyd who plays Dr. Emmett Brown was asked if he'll be willing to return to "Back to the Future 4" where he said, "I would love to do Doc again, no question." So what is it then, should fans wait for release date announcements for "Back to the Future 4"? Hold your horses, sad news is about to be unleashed.

DigitalSpy reported first and foremost that there isn't a release date or casting for "Back to the Future 4" simply because the said installment will never be made. The man behind the 80s film, Robert Zemeckis, revealed that while Universal continues to push for "Back to the Future 4," it will never happen.

"It's making them insane that we don't want to do another 'Back to the Future,'" shared Zemeckis. Uttering the same painful but practical and very concise words early this year from the same media: "Oh, God no."

"That can't happen until both [co-writer Bob Gale] and I are dead. And then I'm sure they'll do it, unless there's a way our estates can stop it," explained further by Zemeckis.

"I mean, to me, that's outrageous. Especially since it's a good movie. It's like saying 'Let's remake Citizen Kane. Who are we going to get to play Kane?' What folly, what insanity is that? Why would anyone do that?"

Obviously, no release date, cast updates and other details about a movie that isn't happening.
