"Dragon Ball Super" episode 23 has unexpectedly killed off one major character.
According to Attack of the Fanboy, Bulma was able to send the distress signal to Whis, who was training Goku and Vegeta. She told them what had been happening when Frieza and his army arrived to Earth.
However, it was previously reported that Goku cannot use Instant Transmission in Beerus' planet. He even had to hold on to Whis to take him to the training area in "Dragon Ball Super" episode 17.
This time, though, Goku needs to find a powerful ki first before he can teleport back to Earth. Gohan stepped up and started to power up. Goku was able to detect his son's ki and used Instant Transmission.
Goku and Vegeta finally arrived in the battlefield in "Dragon Ball Super" episode 23. The episode's trailer briefly showed the pair on Earth. There were speculations that they will not need to transform into their Super Saiyan Blue forms during their fight with Frieza.
"Dragon Ball Super" episode 23 showed how Goku and Vegeta have become more powerful. The Super Saiyan was able to easily deflect Frieza's death ray with just one finger.
Ginyu, who was using Tagoma's body, started to fight the Saiyans. Vegeta showed him no mercy and effortlessly defeats the henchman.
Meanwhile, Goku and Vegeta were not able to save one major character in "Dragon Ball Super" episode 23. Last week's episode ended with Frieza firing a laser blast towards Gohan.
Piccolo decided to take it and save Goku's son. This led to his untimely demise in "Dragon Ball Super" episode 23. Movie Pilot noted, though, that his death was "poorly executed" and it "could have been saved for a better occasion."
AOTFB commented that fans may have expected the Z-fighter to just be severely injured. However, he has been killed off. This is different from what happened in the "Resurrection of F" movie.
