Is there some good news lurking around for the lovers of the ''Matrix Trilogy'' and Keanu Reeves?
As per the reports on Empire, there might be another release of the Matrix saga in 2016.
Fool.com reported that Lana and Andy Wachowski plan to revisit ''The Matrix franchise'' and come up with something in 2017.
Latino review did not give any concrete information about any prequel of the super successful trilogy. There were many rumours about something coming out of the creative brains of the Wachowski brothers; however there is no confirmed news from any of the sources is what they reported.
However IMDB confirmed that a brand new sequel trilogy for ''The Matrix'' with Warner Bros. will hit the cinemas in 2017. However whether Keanu Reeves will still be in the lead role, or any other details were not available on the website.
''The Matrix'' starring Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne, Carrie-Anne Moss, Hugo Weaving, and Joe Pantoliano is a block buster film which did a business of $463.5 million in the box office. This science fiction action film was released in 1999. Village Roadshow Pictures, Groucho II Film Partnership and Silver Pictures had produced the movie.
The plot revolves around Thomas Anderson (Keanu Reeves) who is a computer programmer and living a double-life under the hacker alias "Neo."
''Matrix Reloaded'' which was released in 2003 in the US and Australia is a sequel to ''The Matrix''. This movie like the original one was written and directed by ''The Wachowski Brothers''.
This movie kept the lead cast same. The story is a continuation of the original saga. Six months after the events of the first film, Neo (Keanu Reeves) and Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss) are now lovers and the story takes off from there. This movie did even a better business compared to the original one and managed to scoop up $742.1 million in the box office.
This movie was nominated for the Academy awards and finally bagged several awards including BMI Film & TV Awards, Teen Choice Awards for Choice Movie - Drama/Action Adventure and a few others.
''The Matrix Revolutions'' is the third instalment of the ''Matrix Trilogy'' and was released six months after the second sequel. The cast was pretty much the same and the movie made only $427.3 million in the box office.
So now the wait continues for the fourth one in ''The Matrix Franchise''.
