There will be no "Heroes Reborn" season 2. Apparently, it has already been confirmed that next week's season finale will be a series finale.
"As far as I know there are no more incarnations of "Heroes" coming," explained NBC entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt at the Television Critics Association winter press tour in Pasadena on Wednesday.
"That was always the plan, unless Tim woke up one day and said, 'Oh, I have another chapter to tell.'
"I think we're coming to the end of the world, maybe. Stay tuned," Greenblatt added.
According to Slash Film, the first season of "Heroes" was well loved by critics and fans alike way back 2006. The second season was a "confusing mess," and by the time the show finished with its fourth season in 2010, things weren't as good.
In 2014, NBC came back and is hoping to recapture the audience by releasing "Heroes Reborn." However, the magic was still not captured by the new show and the network decided to cancel "Heroes Reborn" season 2.
"The premise of the show is elastic enough to reboot," Tim Kring said during Comic-Con.
"The promise of 'Heroes' is that it's about prdinary people who come together to save world. So it feels like it can be rebooted, relaunched and recast as a franchise more than just an ongoing saga with the same characters."
"He didn't say that to me, so I haven't heard that," Greenblatt said, playing down the possibility of a reboot. "As far as I know, there's no more incarnation of 'Heroes' coming."
According to Variety, Greenblatt commends "Heroes Reborn" for a good performance every Thursday night. The follow up to "Heroes" had strong viewer interest, but then it cooled off.
Given that "Heroes Reborn" did not do well, NBC did not anymore explore options to have season 2 in the works. Apparently, the network might have stuck with the original plan of creating a short-lived series.
The "Heroes Reborn" season finale will on Jan. 21.
