The rumors involving Rudy Gay of the Sacramento Kings were actually true, as details of the offers were revealed.
According to Yahoo Sports' scoop master and one of the industry's most reliable sources, Adrian Wojnarowski, there were actual offers but both sides just did not work out.
"Around the West, there hasn't been so much instability in years. Sacramento and New Orleans have discussed a Rudy Gay trade, but the Kings are unwilling on a deal that would center on Eric Gordon and Alonzo Gee, league sources said," Wojnarowski wrote.
The initial rumors had the Kings trying to trade Gay for Pelicans' forward Ryan Anderson, one of the more interesting trade prospects despite his impending free agency status.
The Sacramento Bee caught up with Gay and sought a statement to address the recently emerging trade chatter.
"Just another day in the life," is all Gay had to say.
Still, there are signs that Gay would actually be dealt, or at least, the Kings are considering it. "Coach George Karl's system has been a difficult transition for the 6-foot-8 Gay, who is playing more power forward than he has in his career."
The emergence of small forward Omri Casspi has pushed Gay to play the "four" position, which probably prompted them to try and trade for a real power forward in Anderson. However, SacBee still had misgivings.
"Anderson, a perimeter-based power forward, doesn't fit, either," SB argued referring to the Kings need to address perimeter defense.
