Good news for Lupe Fiasco fans, the Chicago rapper has announced that he plans to release three new albums in 2016. But, unfortunately, there's some bad news as well.
Fiasco has also announced that he will retire in 2016 after releasing the third and the last album "Roy."
The "Tetsuo & Youth" rapper took to micro blogging site Twitter to announce that his upcoming album Roy would be his final one.
"'Roy' will be my last album. LUPend," he tweeted, reported XXL Mag.
The retirement news came just a few weeks after Lupe Fiasco announced his intentions to release three new albums in 2016.
"Attention Lupe Fans: 3 full album releases in 2016," Fiasco tweeted, reported Design N Trend. "#Drogas is up first. Not taking any questions at this time. Thank you."
He later unveiled the other two titles, "Skulls" and "Roy." "Drogas" will serve as the follow up to his fifth studio album, Tetsuo & Youth, which was released in the beginning of 2015.
This is not the first time that Lupe has announced retirement plans. The rapper claimed he was quitting music in 2008, following the release of his third album.
"It was 96% about a week ago," he said in January 2008 after performing in Las Vegas.
"I just get tired you know? I get tired. It's a tiring pace that I keep. You see that [show I just did]? I gotta do that again tomorrow. With this [hoarse] voice I gotta find a way to do it again. Then get on a bus for 16 hours, get up and do it all over again for the next two weeks."
Even before 2008, Lupe Fiasco said on Sept. 5, 2012 that he would retire after the release of Lupe Fiasco's "Food & Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album."
"My heart is broken and i see no comfort further along this path only more pain. I cannot participate any longer in this," he tweeted at the time.
Lupe Fiasco is yet to announce the release dates for his upcoming new albums. The singer is currently on a 17-date U.S. tour.
The tour kicked off in Seattle, WA, at The Neptune Theatre on Jan. 13, 2016 and will end on Feb. 13, 2016 at Vogue Theatre in Indianapolis, IN.
