Rebecca Ferguson is reported to join the 2012 blockbuster ''Prometheus'' for the sequel, ''Prometheus 2.''
Cinemablend reported that this summer, Ferguson has jumped to the top of every casting agent's wish list. She has a number of high profile potential projects in front of her, and apparently one of those is Ridley Scott's ''Alien: Paradise Lost'' or ''Prometheus 2.''
''Prometheus'' is a 2012 science-fiction film directed by Ridley Scott. The actors in the film were Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Guy Pearce, Idris Elba, Logan Marshall-Green, and Charlize Theron.
The plot revolves around a spacecraft which departs a planet, a humanoid alien drinks an iridescent liquid; then dissolves. The remains of the alien cascade into a waterfall.
This is the fifth instalment in the ''Alien franchise'' and its development began in the early 2000s.
Scott and director James Cameron developed ideas for a film that would serve as a prequel to Scott's 1979 science-fiction horror film ''Alien''. By 2003, the development of ''Alien vs. Predator'' took precedence, and the project remained dormant until 2009 when Scott again showed interest.
''Although the film shares strands of Alien's DNA, so to speak, and takes place in the same universe, 'Prometheus' explores its own mythology and ideas'' clarified Scott.
Scott revealed that ''Alien: Paradise Lost'' will be the name of this project which was earlier named as ''Prometheus 2''. Even though Scott is thinking about keeping Noomi Rapace as Elizabeth Shaw, he is considering casting Ferguson for a new character which he is planning to introduce.
The ''Mission: Impossible- Rogue Nation'' famed actor was lauded for her role as Ilsa Faust in the 2015 blockbuster. Ferguson shared screen space with the legendary Tom Cruise and the movie scooped up $682.3 million in the box office.
This movie brought her to the attention of many filmmakers and she is considered for many other projects now. ''Mission: Impossible- Rogue Nation'' was almost scrapped as the makers of the mega budget movie ($150 Million USD) had to redo the entire ending since it was deemed to be "unsatisfactory."
Finally, the ending was revamped from top to bottom, and that they had to call in a new writer, an unpaid one, to save the movie from being scrapped. It was released in cinemas in the US on July 23, 2015.
Rebecca is also considered for the role of 'Captain Danvers' in the first female-led superhero movie 'Captain Marvel'. So 2016 will be truly busy for this 32-year old Swedish actress?
