Although we still haven't found the ultimate cure to cancer, we are making huge strides in screening and treatment. Usually, when a doctor suspects you have cancer, you go through a series of lab tests including scans to determine the presence of cancer cells or tumors.

What if you can skip all that? What if the only test you need to take for screening is a urine test? This is the premise of the Navarro cancer test.

The Navarro cancer test is actually very popular among those who are into alternative treatment. It was developed by Dr. Manuel Navarro sometime in the 1950s.

The logic behind the urine test is that HCG, which is present among all forms of cancer, is also an indicator that you have the disease. Although HCG may be assayed via blood, urine is more accurate, according to Navarro's research.

This screening test is also significant in the diagnosis and even prevention of cancer as it can detect the disease months before it develops into one. For example, the test can indicate that you will have skin cancer at least 2 years before the initial symptoms set in. Brain cancer may potentially develop within 29 months and 12 months for bone metastasis (due to breast cancer 2 years prior).

There's only one clinic that's authorized to process the urine specimen, and that's in the Philippines. This means you need to prepare the sample yourself.

Based on the instructions on their website, you would need a glass jar, alcohol (either rubbing or ethyl), coffee filter, plastic bag, measuring spoon, and a measuring cup, preferably glass.

Get a urine sample, preferably the early morning one, about 50 ml. combine it with 200 ml acetone and a teaspoon of alcohol. Mix them well. Cool in a refrigerator for no less than 6 hours until they become sediments. Throw half of the mixture, excluding the sediments. The rest has to be filtered until you're left with nothing but the sediments. Air dry. You can then send the sample inside a sandwich plastic bag to the lab in Manila.

The cost is $55 while results may come out within 3 weeks. Pregnant women are not allowed to take the test as the results may lead to wrong interpretation.
