Following the untimely death of the Stone Temple Pilots original and longtime frontman Scott Weiland late last year, surviving members Robert and Dean DeLeo revealed that they are still looking for a new singer to fill in the spot after Chester Bennington parted ways.

In a report by Blabbermouth, Robert DeLeo said in a The Pulse Of Radio interview that even though they didn't have a singer after the singers parted ways with them, continuing with the STP's name is what they should do even without Weiland.

"From the beginning, it wasn't 'Hey, let's together and write a song' or 'Hey, let's get together and do this show,'" he said while they continue to search for a new singer for the group. "It was 'Hey, let's get together and continue Stone Temple Pilots with a lot of integrity.' That's really what the intent was. It's something that Eric and Dean and myself have worked at for a long time, and we've been trying to hold up the whole integrity of this band for a long time."
As for the band's name, some of their fans were demanding to have the name of the group changed, allegedly to pay respect for the late singer.

However, the bassist and guitarist defended themselves in a St. Louis radio station interview, wherein they revealed that changing the name would be unfair for them since Weiland wasn't the only one who put up STP.

"There were three-quarters of us that were responsible with Scott, making Stone Temple Pilots," they revealed, as they are still searching for a new singer. "For instance, you have a company like Coca-Cola, and you have someone running Coca-Cola. If they're not there anymore, do you change the name of Coca-Cola?"

"It's easy for someone to say that, and get on their computer, and write that in, but if you're in that position in life, that's the last thing I want to do right now."
