Recently researchers conducted a study on a very popular prescription drug used by people with ADHD - Adderall. The study showed that Adderall is mostly used by young people aged between 18-25. consequently, the researchers also found out multiple hospitalizations involving young adults especially those who are in college have been attributed to the ADHD medicine.

The researchers later on found out that students use Adderall otherwise known as "cram medicine" to help them stay focused and awake before a big exam.

Study co-author Ramin Mojtabai, a professor of mental health explained the reason behind the fast increase in numbers of students who are addicted to this drug. According to Mojtabai, Adderall used by college students makes them feel smarter and more productive. However there are serious long term effects caused by Adderral these students fail to consider.

"Our sense is that a sizeable proportion of those who use them believe these medications make them smarter and more capable of studying. We need to educate this group that there could be serious adverse effects from taking these drugs"

A student from Syracuse University, Paul Noga stated how normal it is for college students to take Adderall especially before finals. He said that it is ultimately very easy to acquire drugs online.

"I know a lot of people who do it just to get through tests or papers, especially it's really common around finals. A lot of people are always looking for it on popular websites."

Drug prevention expert Elizabeth Toomey described how the drug works when people who are not suffering from ADHD use it. According to Toomey, Adderall has opposite effects for ADHD patients. The drug tends to calm them down. She further reveals that she has been made privy to reports of young people asking ADHD sufferers if they are willing to sell their meds.
