The trade that would send Channing Frye to the Cleveland Cavaliers has not been made official.
If Frye would not be cleared, that meant that Frye still could not join his new team according to an AP report (h/t ESPN).
"Frye did not practice as expected Saturday and continued to go thorough medical exams. Frye, who was obtained in a trade from Orlando on Thursday, missed the 2012-13 season with a heart condition," the report stated.
The report was supported by Cleveland.com who also stated that the Cavs are not really worried about the situation. For one thing, they scored a landmark win against their cross-conference rivals, the Oklahoma City Thunder.
"No concern. No concern at all," coach Tyronn Lue said. "We're just being as thorough as we need to be. We have until Tuesday, and that's the doctor's job."
There is also the possibility that the trade might be revoked and the main piece that Cleveland sent-Anderson Varejao, would not be returned as explained by Cleveland.com.
"On Thursday, Cleveland sent Jared Cunningham and a second-round pick to the Magic for Frye," the article explained. "Orlando can't play or waive Cunningham until Frye officially joins the Cavs. Also, if the Cavs find an issue with Frye that causes the trade to be voided, they don't get Anderson Varejao back. Varejao was traded separately to Portland in return for that second-round pick the Cavs packed to Orlando. The Blazers have already waived Varejao, and he cannot resign with Cleveland for a full year."
The Cavs beat the Oklahoma City Thunder at their own homecourt behind a big game by Kevin Love.
