It's a somewhat terrible week for the A-list celebrity Angelina Jolie. After figuring herself in the Sony scandal, after an e-mail exchange between producer Scott Rudin and one of the studio's heads Amy Pascal called her a spoiled brat, she had to cancel her U.S. premiere of her latest movie Unbroken after she developed chickenpox.
In a video shared by Universal, a laid-back-looking Jolie, wearing a sleeveless white top, which seemed to show early signs of the condition, announced her decision not to attend the upcoming premiere of Unbroken, which is scheduled in Los Angeles this Monday, December 15. The movie, which talked about a former track star who became a fighter pilot who crashed his plane in the Pacific waters and spent more than a year as a prisoner of war by the Japanese, has already been released in Australia. It is scheduled to open on Christmas Day in the United States.
She expressed her deep regret and apparent sadness, even saying she couldn't believe it to be happening right now, especially since she, as the movie's director, treated the movie like her own child. She mentioned that the movie meant a lot to her.
Nevertheless, her husband, Brad Pitt, who also became part of the Sony hack after his movie Fury was leaked online, will appear on her behalf.
Chickenpox is caused by a virus called varicella zoster. It is a skin condition characterized by the appearance of papules that tend to become widespread the more you scratch the skin. It is contagious, which can be obtained by exposing yourself to people who have it either through sneezing, coughing, or sharing of food and drink. Although Jolie didn't mention where she got the virus herself, some speculated that any of her children may have got it first.
Usually, though, once a person has chickenpox, the chances of getting it again are very slim.
