The Christmas season has started and in a few hours, the world would welcome one of the most important events of the year. If you are planning sharing a few kisses under the mistletoe, you are definitely giving your health a favour.

A new research from Amsterdam has revealed that the amount of bacteria being transferred during a French kiss is eight times more than everyone previously thought.

Scientists in Amsterdam have discovered that the amount of bacteria transferred during a French kiss is eight times higher than previously thought. May studies in the past regard this transfer of bacteria as unhealthy. However, the new study suggests that this might be beneficial for the body's health.

According to the study, "What you could say is that when you obtain bacteria from your environment or your partner, which leads to an increased diversity, so more species, there are some indication that this is actually good for your health, because you will be able with more species to have more resistance against invasions of disease-causing micro organisms."

The scientists at Micropia, the world's first museum of microbes, have conducted a study on the kissing habits of 21 couples. The results showed that they were able to transfer about eighty million microbes during the first ten seconds of French kissing. If the couples would kiss many times a day or approximately nine times a day, they will share similar communities of bacteria and microbes.

Of course, many thought that bacteria are bad for the body. However, this research suggests that microorganisms in the body are essential and important for the digestion of food. Also, they are good in the prevention of diseases. Hence, kissing exposes the body to healthy bacteria that can aid in the digestion of food.

The scientists are therefore intense and keen in spreading the news to the public. In fact, they invited a Kiss-O-Meter to help people see exactly what the couples are sharing this Christmas.

Thus, this Christmas, many couples would help each other's body through kisses of love and happiness.
