Pink's Ice Cream LLC of Seattle has announced that they are recalling all ice-cream flavors produced in 2014 except for one, Coconut Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert, due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.

The brand of ice cream was distributed though grocery stores and restaurants all around the Puget Sound Area in Seattle, Washington. The

Pink's Ice Cream was distributed through grocery stores and restaurants around the Puget Sound Area including Uwajimaya and Metropolitan Market in Washington.

The recall was a result of testing and routine sampling don by the United States Food and Drug Administration. The 16-ounce pint of ice cream is sold with a six-digit code on the bottom of the item. The recall includes codes that start with the two numbers 00**** and 52****.

The recall came out due to the examination at Snoqualmie Gourmet Ice Cream, Pink's dairy supplier, and they found out that it is contaminated with Listeria. The pathogen was found on the plant's surfaces and on the product itself.

Good news is there are no reported cases related to consuming the said product. Consumers who have purchased the said products should return them to the store of purchase for full refund or replacement.

Listeria can cause serious complications which can be fatal in those who have weakened immune systems. Listeria has the same symptoms with salmonella where in the customer will experience vomiting, diarrhea, fever, headache, and abdominal pain. It can be potentially fatal to the unborn child of a pregnant woman.

In related news, Bleating Heart Cheese (BHC) also announced its voluntary recall notice of December 17, 2014 for all of its sheep milk, goat milk, water buffalo milk and cows milk cheese products. These were produced between February 14, 2014 (coded as 14-0214) and September 19, 2014 (coded as 14-0919) due to an abundance of caution concerning the possibility of Listeria monocytogenes.
