The Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued a recall of 169,000 VYSSA crib mattresses which were manufactured by IKEA, a multinational group of companies that designs and sells ready-to-assemble furniture, appliances and home furnishings, due to entrapment risk. Apparently, reports say that there were two babies who were trapped in the gap between the mattress and crib.

The models involved in the recall are VACKERT, VINKA, SPELEVINK, SLÖA and SLUMMER which were manufactured from August 2010 to May 2014 for about $100 in Mexico. In their company website, they said, "Consumers should verify that their crib mattress has the correct length."

In the company's statement, they are issuing a refund for the recalled mattresses. "If any gap is larger, customers should immediately stop using the recalled mattresses and return it to any IKEA store for an exchange or a full refund. It is recommended that only IKEA fitted crib sheets are used with VYSSA crib mattresses. Proof of purchase is not required to receive an exchange or a full refund for the return."

Aside from US stores, they also have an online shop where some of these mattresses were sold. A health update of the two babies was also announced by the company stating that they were left uninjured. However, due to a precautionary measure, they are voluntarily recalling all defective models for the satisfaction and safety of their clients.

For customer inquiries they can contact IKEA Company for toll-free at (888) 966-4532 anytime or online at www.ikea-usa.com. Meanwhile, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is in charge of protecting the public from arbitrary risks of injury or death linked to the use of consumer products under the agency's jurisdiction.
