Fairhaven Health, a company based in Bellingham, Washington that provides fertility, pregnancy, and nursing products, has recently released the OvaCue Fertility Monitor, which claims to predict ovulation for up to 7 days in advance.

This monitor tracks the changes happening in the electrolyte levels in a woman's saliva and cervical mucus that are impacted by estrogen. According to its official website, fairhavenhealth.com, the OvaCue has a hand-held monitor with a colored screen, a vaginal sensor, and an oral sensor. This is said to be the best combination for tracking a woman's most fertile days in the cycle, as well as confirming when ovulation has taken place. Studies sponsored by the National Institute of Health have found that the monitor has been found to be 98% accurate in tracking ovulation.

The information in the Fairhaven website details instructions on how to use this fertility monitor. The oral sensor is to be place on the tongue every day. This will allow the OvaCue to record a reading of the electrolyte resistance happening in the saliva. Such readings will help the monitor track certain trends, aiming to discover a specific trend that shows the start of a woman's fertile window. This specific trend is called the "Cue Peak".

Upon the detection of this trend, the monitor will place a color in the calendar with different shades of blue. These colors will mark low to peak fertility and will provide an advance notice of ovulation 5 to 7 days in advance. This pre-ovulation notice helps raise a woman's chances of conception.

What's more, the OvaCue keeps an eye on a woman's current cycle day and current fertility status. It also stores up to 4 months' worth of readings. The OvaCue is also suited for women with irregular cycles, assisting in giving notifications as to when ovulation will occur.

Data from the OvaCue can be uploaded using a USB cable to OvaGraph.com, where the user will have free, unlimited access. OvaGraph is a fertility charting tool.
