“Fifty Shades Darker” was previously rumored to feature a new male actor for the lead role of Christian Grey. However, the recently released short teaser trailer that Universal Pictures has released erased all doubt.

The new video, which ran for only less than 30 seconds, showed Jamie Dornan as Grey looking very dapper in his tux and a mask. The clip had a black and white setting and was paired with a relatively thrilling choice for background music. As the sequel’s title has suggested, it would seem that “Fifty Shades Darker” will truly take a darker turn, as pointed out in Venture Capital Post.

This kind of tone is also seemingly more fitting for the sequel. After all, as Universal Pictures chairman, Donna Langley, has confirmed, the sequel will be “more of a thriller.” The thriller aspect of the film might come in when Elena Lincoln and Leila Williams finally enters the storyline.

Those who have read EL James’s books know that Lincoln was the first female dominant that Grey had – later becoming his business partner. She will be meeting Anastasia Steele, played by Dakota Johnson, for the first time in a masquerade ball – which is expected to be the scene to come next after the teaser trailer scene. Lincoln then tries her hardest to terrorize Steele by accusing her of being a gold digger.

Williams, meanwhile, used to be Grey’s submissive. She will stalk Steele after she experiences a mental breakdown and will even attempt to shoot the story’s female lead with a gun.

It looks like “Fifty Shades Darker” and the third installment of the raunchy movie franchise, “Fifty Shades Freed,” will be hitting theaters before Valentine’s Day. Unlike “Fifty Shades of Grey,” which aired on the popular heart’s day, “Darker” will be out on Feb. 10, 2017, while “Freed” will be out on Feb. 9, 2018.
