With "Castle" renewed and with season 8 coming up, fans of the show are definitely excited to know more updates about their favority ABC show.
If new reports are true, it looks like cast and crew will start filming by July. In addition, it looks like the upcoming run will only have 13 episodes.
"When is production on the new season going to begin?" Cartermatt asked.
"The answer for now is not confirmed, but based on some past indicators, our guess would be to prepare for things to start up again around the middle of July. The show films in Los Angeles, which they have been able to carefully use to recreate New York City in a way that many other shows do."
"As for how long they will be filming this season, much of that depends on the episode count. There have been rumors regarding them only doing 13 episodes this season, and if that is the case filming would likely be over sooner for Nathan Fillion, Stana Katic, and the rest of the cast," the article added.
Fans of the show feared that "Castle" will be canceled after producers of the show failed to sign major stars Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic before season 7 ended. It was previously reported that ABC has not yet renewed the series for an eighth season.
"It's been weird. The last five months have been limbo," cast member Seamus Dever previously told TVGuide.com.
"I don't know [what's] going to happen, and, to be honest, no one has talked to me ... about next season. I'd like to have some answers because my family wants to know if I'm going to be employed. But right now it's really up in the air."
"From what I'm hearing, [the delayed renewal] is not from lack of want at the network level. They're very happy with the success of our show; it's just about getting everybody back to the table," Dever added.
But with recent good news claiming Katic is aboard the "Castle" season 8 ship, it looks like nothing will stop the TV drama.
ABC President Paul Lee confirmed the actress' return and also dished on some exclusive details about the show and its future.
"After word broke that Stana Katic is officially returning to Castle next year, ABC president Paul Lee told reporters that season 8 will not be the show's last-even though the series is undergoing a showrunner swap, plus the more recent news that executive producers Andrew Marlowe and Terri Miller will not be returning to produce Castle next year," Entertainment Weekly reported.
"According to Lee, he'd like to see the show continue 'for many years to come.'"
