The new "Dragon Ball Z" TV series, "Dragon Ball Super," has a new manga promo art which revealed the character design of Goku.
Goku is shown with his signature orange jumpsuit, blue belt, blue wristbands and blue boots. Original creator Akira Toriyama will also work on the project. Toyoraro has previously worked on the three-chapter manga adaptation of the recent film, "Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection of F."
It was previously reported that Toei Animation's new "Dragon Ball Z" TV series will have a manga adaptation by "Dragon Ball Heroes" author Toyotaro. The "Dragon Ball Super" manga is slated for the August issue of V-Jump magazine. Meanwhile, the anime will be aired in July on Sundays.
"Dragon Ball Super" is the first new anime show for the series in 18 years, since "Dragon Ball GT" was aired way back in 1996 and 1997. Toei Animation's Kimitoshi Chioka, known for his work with "Hakaba Kitarō" and "Kamisama Kazoku," is the series director. Osamu Nozaki, Naoko Sagawa and Atsushi Kido are the producers of the show.
The new "Dragon Ball Z" TV series is set after the events of the Buu saga and "Resurrection of F." Fuji TV producer Osamu Nozaki also revealed that an enemy stronger than Buu or Frieza may appear in "Dragon Ball Super." There were also speculations that the new villain may be Broly or God-Broly.
"The release of the TV series 'Dragon Ball Super,' based on the Akira Toriyama story, begins this July," Attack of the Fanboy reported.
"After the meeting with the God of Destruction, Beerus, who had awakened from a long sleep after Frieza's resurrection, was once feared as the "emperor of the universe." An even more mysterious character now comes into play."
"Dragon Ball Super" will air in Japan this July and may have as many as 100 episodes or more. In the event that the anime is a success, Toei Animation may increase the number of episodes.
