James Wan has been officially announced to take the helm for the upcoming "Aquaman" film set for a 2018 release date. Star Jason Momoa welcomes "Furious 7" director into the team with a quick message.
It isn't a surprise for upcoming projects to have directors assigned very early into the production as in the case of James Wan's announcement into the "Aquaman" project. With a release date set for 2018, fans are ecstatic to hear that the director behind the massively successful "Furious 7" now takes on the helm for another possibly high-hitting Hollywood film.
Soon after the announcement of the director for "Aquaman," star of the film and the newest superhero Jason Momoa know for his role as Khal Drogo in the HBO series "Game of Thrones" welcomed the news with a collage on his official Instagram account. The photo was captioned with "Game On. Super stoked Aloha AC."

Meanwhile, Jason Momoa also revealed details about the upcoming "Aquaman" project, especially after the first-look poster containing Aquaman's suit/costume has been revealed years before the planned released date. In an interview with EW, Momoa said, "That was a shocker for sure. It was supposed to be a surprise in 2016, so it definitely helps ['Aquaman']."
"I've been holding that secret for a long time," Momoa continued. "Zack Snyder called me up and said, 'I'm posting this picture now.' He's just a genius and I love him to death. He sent it over and we're in the middle of the editing suite for the thing I'm doing right now, and we all freaked out, man. It was so amazing to see it come out."
In the same interview, Jason Momoa also shared a few sneak peaks about what fans could expect come "Aquaman" release date set in 2018. "The whole mythology of Aquaman is pretty amazing," Momoa explained.
"There's so many things to tell, and there's a whole backstory that's just amazing. There's a lot of surprises coming. I think, yeah, he's been cast aside. But, um [laughs] times are going to change now, buddy."
There have been speculations that come "Aquaman" release date, fans will experience a whole new different environment in the ancient civilization of Atlantis. According to CinemaBlend, this is a highly possible location for the upcoming "Aquaman" movie; however, no official news on the subject has yet been released so far.
