The "Pokémon Z" release date may have been delayed due to this year's "Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon."
iDigitalTimes reported that fans can expect the "Pokémon Z" release date next year because of the confirmed release of "Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon" this Sep. 17 in Japan. It will be released in North America this winter and next spring for Europe.
Based on the previous announcements made by The Pokémon Company at E3, there never was a new "Pokémon" game announced during E3. Last year, a new trailer of "Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire" was, indeed, shown during Nintendo's Digital Event but the actual announcement was made during another event last May 7, 2014.
Furthermore, the publication listed the release dates of the previous "Pokémon" games. "Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Space" was released on Apr. 2008, followed by "Pokémon Platinum" on Mar. 2009. "Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky" was published on Oct. 2010 and "Pokémon Black/White" was released on Mar. 2011.
Lastly, "Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity" was released on Mar. 2013, followed by "Pokémon X and Y" seven months after, on Oct. 2013. If "Super Mystery Dungeon" would be released in Japan this September, based on the pattern of the release dates of previous games, the earliest release for the next "Pokémon" title may be during the first quarter of next year.
"There's no particular reason I'm aware of," Scott Moffitt, Nintendo America Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing," said about the lack of a core "Pokémon" game announcement. "One year, for example, people got used to a March or Spring 'Pokémon' time frame and then we moved it to a Fall time frame in October. So we did different things with the 'Pokémon' franchise this year."
The "Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon" 3DS release date will be this Sep. 17 in Japan. It will be priced at about $39 for either the package edition or download edition. Japanese fans can preorder the game as early as Jul. 4. Early buyers can expect a few bonuses.
