Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd were recently spotted in Curacao a day before the wedding of their friend, fellow dancer, and known fashion designer Nicole Volynets. They even posted a photo of themselves – looking absolutely happy – on Instagram.

As seen in the picture, the couple was ready for a night out as they stood very closely to one another standing in an ornate hallway. They were dressed quite casually and Chmerkovskiy’s arm was wrapped relatively securely around Murgatroyd’s waist, with her chin poised adorable on his shoulder.

“Summer nights, Curacao. #gamerwedding @maksimc,” Murgatroyd wrote as a caption to the romantic photograph.

The couple had actually dated each other for 10 months before Chmerkovskiy decided to break things off only a couple of weeks before Valentine’s Day in 2013, according to Us Weekly.

After the breakup, Murgatroyd bucked up and resumed her tenure on “Dancing with the Stars” as one of the show’s regular professional dancers. Chmerkovskiy, on the other hand, decided to leave the show following their split before he returned to claim the “DWTS” season 18 Mirror Ball trophy with Meryl Davis.

Winning the show’s 18th season seemed to have been Chmerkovskiy’s last hurrah for the show since had previously confirmed to Glamour that he is “definitely not” returning to the show.

Apparently, he has always believed that “the time was right.” “Every now and then, everything needs to be refreshed,” he revealed. “Me, Cheryl, Karina – the few of us leaving – I think this might be one of the last times we see Derek. Tony is still around, but I do not know for how long. It is not set. You have people like Peta and Val, who, kind of, became faces of the show.”

Still, despite already having “moved on” from the show, he is hopeful that “the show stays for another 10 years.” “We will come celebrate it when we are a lot older.”
