It is almost September and the promised July new album of Frank Ocean has been neither released nor updated. Now fans ask, is "Boys Don't Cry" coming at all?
It was a few months ago when singer-songwriter Frank Ocean announced the coming of his sophomore album and fans were ecstatic. Together with the new album, a magazine is also said to be released alongside the LP last July. However, July passed and no new album ever surfaced.
Speculated to be titled "Boys Don't Cry," the new Frank Ocean album came under fire after the July release date passed and no word from Frank Ocean or his people. Previous reports revealed that fans were outraged even after a few supposed new tracks were released online, only to find out that the songs were actually old mixes recorded by Frank Ocean.
Despite reported website redirections that were speculated to be the result of Frank Ocean's camp preparing for the new album release, days passed by with no news whatsoever about the new album. The latest update on Frank Ocean, however, reflected another backing out, this time the singer's actual performance in the recent FYF Fest in California.
In a report by EW, finally Frank Ocean released a statement but not regarding the delayed new album, but the recent cancellation of his appearance in FYF Fest.
"We're really sorry that due to a scheduling conflict beyond our control, Frank Ocean is not going to be able to appear at FYF Festival as planned," the statement read. "Frank had really been looking forward to the performance and to seeing all of his fans, so it is with great regret that we announce this cancellation."
With the new album nowhere to be found and the recent FYF Fest performance cancellation, fans are now asking what is happening with Frank Ocean.
LA Times rightly pointed out, "what does this last-second bailout mean for Ocean and his long-awaited new album? Who knows, but it can't be a confidence-boosting gesture for his future festival appearances. After also failing to deliver on a few allusions to a new record coming in July, some fans are wondering when or if Ocean will be back at all to deliver on the immense promise of 2012's 'Channel Orange.'"
What is going on, Frank?
