"Outlander" season 2 plot will be back in 2016, and rumors about what it is going to be continued to make their rounds all over the Internet. It looks like Claire Randall and Jamie Fraser are going to be joined by another major character - their daughter.
Latin Post has reported that show runners of the highly watched Starz period drama have already started a casting call for a character named Brianna. Those who have read the source material, Diana Gabaldon's "Outlander" novels, are well aware that Brianna is the daughter of Claire, played by Caitriona Balfe, and Jamie, played by Sam Heughan.
According to TV Line, Brianna is an American woman in her 20s. She is an intelligent woman who exudes effortless charm and a sense of humor - which she most likely inherited from both of her parents. She possesses a scholastic mindset with a healthy dose of American strength, according to its official character description.
Apparently, despite having a British mother and a Scottish father, Brianna is going to be American, having been born and raised in Boston under Frank Randall's care. The description is also most likely coming from how the character was depicted in Gabaldon's second "Outlander" novel, "Dragonfly in Amber."
Brianna might have to be a red-haired, 5-foot-8 woman, but this does not necessarily mean that she has to be natural redhead. After all, whoever show runners decide to take on for the role can easily dye her hair red.
Furthermore, based on the source material, Brianna is earthy and grounded, whilst showing inexperience and vulnerability - traits that her mother owns. Despite this innocence, however, she will secretly follow her mother back in time in order to find her real father and meet him and the family that she has never known for the very first time.
