However, Balfe has revealed that Claire had actually not planned to fall in love with Jamie. "Outlander" fans are well aware that Claire has a tendency to plan what her next move will be, with the goal of being able to return to present time. That said, when she arrived to 18th century Scotland by accident, she was not looking for love. Instead, love found her when she met Jamie.
"With Jamie, in the 18th century, once they come together, she is Jamie's wife," Balfe told PEOPLE. "She is still very much the healer - the conjurer woman. She has her own destiny. She can fulfill it with Jamie."
In other related news, "Outlander" show runners have just launched a Collector's Edition DVD for the series' first season. In addition to outtakes, bloopers, and commentaries, the disc also features a deleted scene that showed Balfe's and Sam Heughan's characters arguing while inside Castle Leoch.
