Developer changes mean huge adjustments, and a pushed back release date for "Dead Island 2." Fans now ask what other changes have been made so far.

After Deepsilver announced its separation from developer Yager, the future and release date of "Dead Island 2" has been pushed back to an unspecified 2016. PCGamer revealed the statement by Deepsilver, where the "Dead Island 2" project was concerned.

"With 'Dead Island 2,' Deep Silver has always been dedicated to delivering the sequel that 'Dead Island' fans deserve," it said.

"After careful consideration, today, we announce the decision to part ways with development partner Yager. We will continue working towards bringing our vision of 'Dead Island 2' to life, and we will share further information at a later stage," added the statement.

Initially, the release date for "Dead Island 2" was set in 2015, and after Yager left, now, 2016 is the current release date for the highly anticipated sequel. Apart from the release date, however, fans now ask what else has changed as "Dead Island 2" release date comes in 2016.

According to MoviePilot, "Dead Island 2" location will not be a literal island, but in sunny California.

"This time around Deep Silver have opted for a different type of exotic setting, namely California, and will feature iconic landmarks like the Hollywood sign (which you can see in the image above), the Santa Monica Pier, the beaches of Los Angeles and various locations within San Francisco," revealed the report.

Apart from the affected release date, "Dead Island 2" gameplay promises a more fluid environment. The same report revealed Deep Silver's Sebastian Reichert's pledge to fans who have been waiting, "We want the combat to be more of a sandbox."

However, Inquisitr pointed out that while there has been no update from Deep Silver about the new developer to come on board to meet the 2016 release date for "Dead Island 2," the project's cancellation could still be in the horizon. If and when there isn't a developer that could meet and even surpass the expectations of the sequel, then "Dead Island 2" might still be doomed.
