One theory suggested that Mabel Pines may die in "Gravity Falls" season 2.
Movie News Guide reported that a major character might die in "Gravity Falls" season 2. Furthermore, it could be one of the mystery twins.
"This [Weirdmageddon] is one giant, epic, multi-part story," series creator Alex Hirsch said, according to Franchise Herald. "The stakes are going to be higher, the situations are going to be stranger, the magic is going to be bigger, and we will see every character again in some fashion having to deal with this completely unusual situation. You've never seen anything like this before."
"Gravity Falls" season 2 episode 18 saw Mabel being trapped inside a prison bubble. It was said that it could be Bill Cipher who put her there.
Another theory suggested that Mabel could be powering Weirdmageddon with her imagination, making her the key to Bill's plans. However, saving her might cause disastrous consequences for everyone in Gravity Falls.
This could be why Bill chained Mabel's bubble, not to keep other people out, but to keep her in. However, it is highly likely that Mabel is already starting to break out of her prison. MNG added that if Mabel escapes her prison, Bill might lose his power and the whole universe will crumble.
There were speculations that "Gravity Falls" season 2 might see the death of Grunkle Stan. Alex Hirsch previously announced on Twitter that one main character will be saying goodbye this season.
Moreover, according to iSchoolGuide, there might be no "Gravity Falls" season 3. Disney Channel and Alex Hirsch have not renewed the series; however it has not been canceled either.
"Is this the end or the beginning?" Hirsch noted. "What could happen next? Right now unfortunately I cannot comment on those questions."
The publication commented that the possibility of "Gravity Falls" being renewed or a specific release date for its third season remains unclear.
