The "Fast and the Furious" franchise is growing indeed! Spinoff details have been revealed, and it's not what everybody is expecting.
"Furious 8" is in the works with a release date already set. While the cast headed by Vin Diesel has been quite busy with preps, the actor behind Mr. Alpha, Dominic Toretto, has obliged to reveal more details about "Fast and Furious" spinoff speculations and has confirmed that these are more than rumors.
A report by Variety revealed how Vin Diesel updated fans about the development of "Fast and Furious" spinoffs, even before "Furious 8" release date.
"We've written out story lines for various characters," revealed Diesel. "We've been playing with it for a long time. It's a very rich property and we're committed to treating it with a lot of class."
Universal's Donna Langley supported Vin Diesel's update about the plans for "Fast and Furious" and said in the same report that, "We're certainly in conversations about how we can expand the franchise now."
"It's an ensemble cast and there's room to bring characters in and out," Langley added. Not to mention the billions of dollars each "Fast and Furious" installment generates, THR reported that the arrival of the spinoffs is inevitable.
To date, there have been no specific news on the upcoming "Fast and Furious" spinoff, but it cannot be denied that the characters in the franchise have grown as far as "Furious 7" is concerned, making every character a rightful candidate for that titular spinoff.
Vulture pointed out the numerous character possibilities for the "Fast and Furious" spinoff, with Dwayne Johnson's character, Luke Hobbs, as the prime possibility. Arguably, the actor himself has a few box office hits under his belt and it's no surprise that's his character is the most to be considered for a titular spinoff "Fast and Furious" film.
The Shaw brothers backstory for the "Fast and Furious" spinoff, portrayed by Luke Evans (Owen) and Jason Statham (Deckard) is another possibility, with the Hollywood powerhouse these two actors have between them.
