With an unconfirmed date for "Pokemon Z," fans who are waiting for the "Pokemon Go" release date are still waiting in vain.
"Pokemon Go" is Nintendo's attempt to bring the "Pokemon" game franchise into mobile platforms.
As stated in Christian Post, since its unveiling in Sept. 2015, there is not much information on the "Pokemon Go" release date except for the fact that it is an augmented reality game that "makes use of location-based markers in order to look for, catch and collect virtual pocket monsters in the real world."
On the other hand, Movie Pilot said that it was suspected that Nintendo might go along the emulator route when they announced "Pokemon Go."
Since people could now play classic Nintendo titles like "Legend of Zelda" and "Super Mario Bros." through their mobile phones and PCs by the use of fan-made emulators, speculations of "Pokemon Go" being similar to this platform increased.
"The Pokemon Company saw 'Ingress' as a perfect match for 'Pokemon,'" John Hanke, chief executive of Niantic, which is the studio that made the renowned location portal-based MMORPG "Ingress."
"We were practically finishing each other's sentences. [In] 'Ingress,' you conquer portals. [In] 'Pokemon,' obviously, you'd go out into the real world and find Pokemon and battle them against other players and trade them and go to gyms. That's how it's going to work. Let's do it."
Even though the "Pokemon Go" release date is not yet determined despite the hype, Niantic's chief marketing officer, Mike Quigley shared details regarding the development of the much awaited game to Games Beat.
"It's not like it's just another rev of the handheld game," John Hanke explained to Games Beat.
"This is a 'Pokémon' experience that's brand new, and yet it goes back to the very origin of the franchise. It's about a kid who goes out in the world and finds Pokémon."
"You do things like enabling asynchronous play. If someone passes through that town on a trip to somewhere else, they interact with the locations there," Hanke explained further.
Fans might need to forego the "Pokemon Go" release date for the mean time and focus on the fact that the game has some new details.
