The sequel to iconic 1986 film "Top Gun" may finally come to light soon as producer Jerry Bruckheimer teased his Twitter followers, with a photo of him and possible lead cast Tom Cruise.
"Just got back from a weekend in New Orleans to see my old friend @TomCruise and discuss a little Top Gun 2."

There have been countless rumors of "Top Gun 2" being produced in the past, but it has never actually transpired for almost three decades. Jerry Bruckheimer and Tom Cruise have been vocal about doing the sequel for years now and finally it looks like it will happen soon.
According to Deadline, a source said, "It's closer now to becoming real than it's been in 30 years."
No words yet on the specific release date and plot but David Ellison, Skydance Productions CEO, talked about the sequel on June of last year and gave hints that it is still Tom Cruise who will lead the cast as the iconic Maverick character.
"There is an amazing role for Maverick in the movie and there is no Top Gun without Maverick," Ellis said, according to Wired.
"It is going to be Maverick playing Maverick. It is, I don't think, what people are going to expect, and we are very, very hopeful that we get to make the movie very soon."
Furthermore, Val Kilmer, who played the role of Ice Man in "Top Gun," has caused media frenzy last November by revealing that he was also offered a spot in the "Top Gun 2" cast.
"Not often you get to say 'yes' without reading the script," Kilmer said, according to Empire Online.
"Jerry Bruckheimer and Tom Cruise!!! 'Yes.' We will all miss Tony Scott - one of the kindest gentlemen I've ever met in the film biz - but let's fire up some fighter jets again!!!"
